iPad Screen Replacement in Bangalore

A cracked iPad screen is the repair we do most, and it is also the one where cheap work shows fastest. The screen is held in with adhesive all the way round the frame, and it has to be heated, cut and lifted without bending the aluminium underneath.

What separates a good job from a bad one is what happens on the way back together. A screen that is not bonded evenly starts lifting at a corner within a few weeks, and once dust gets under the edge it never looks right again. That resealing work is most of what you are paying for.

Call +91 98451 28045 for a free check. We collect from anywhere in Bangalore and drop it back, at no extra cost.

When an iPad screen needs replacing

Some of these need a new screen. A couple of them do not, which is worth knowing before you agree to anything.

  • Cracks or a spider web across the glass
  • Touch does not respond in one area, often a strip down one side
  • The screen registers taps you did not make
  • Lines running down the display
  • Black patches or a completely dark screen
  • The glass has lifted away from the frame at a corner
  • Colours look washed out or have a coloured tint
  • It works but you can feel sharp edges when you swipe

What is really broken

On most iPads the glass you touch and the display underneath are two separate layers. That matters, because if only the glass is cracked and the picture is perfect, some models allow the glass alone to be replaced for considerably less. On the newer models the two are bonded together and have to be done as one unit.

Touch that fails in a strip usually means the digitiser cable or a crack running through the touch layer, even where the glass looks fine. People often report this after a drop that left no visible damage at all.

A screen lifting at the corner is nearly always a previous repair that was not resealed properly. It is also the reason dust gets in and the touch starts behaving oddly a few months later.

A swollen battery will push the screen up from underneath and pop it out of the frame. If your screen has lifted evenly all the way round rather than at one corner, stop using it and bring it in, because that is a battery problem showing itself as a screen problem.

How we replace it

The removal and the reseal are where iPad screen jobs go wrong, so both get proper time.

  1. Check what actually failed. Glass only, display only, or both. And whether the touch fault is the screen or the cable behind it. This decides the price before anything is opened.
  2. Check the battery first. If the screen has lifted, we look for swelling before doing anything else. Fitting a new screen over a swollen battery just breaks the new screen too.
  3. Controlled heat and removal. The adhesive is softened evenly and the screen lifted without flexing the frame. Rushing this is how the aluminium gets bent and the new screen never sits flat.
  4. Fit and test before sealing. The new screen is connected and fully tested while the iPad is still open. Touch, colour, brightness and the sensors along the top edge.
  5. Fresh adhesive and cure. New adhesive all the way round and proper clamping time. This is the step cheap repairs skip and it is why their screens lift.

What is involved and how long it takes

Prices depend on your exact model and on whether the glass alone or the whole display needs doing, so we quote after the free check rather than over the phone. A 12.9 inch Pro and a base iPad are not close to the same job.

You get the figure before any work starts, and nothing is added to it afterwards.

Job What it involves Time needed
Glass only replacement For models where the layers are separate and the display is undamaged Same day
Full display replacement Glass and LCD replaced together as one bonded unit 1 to 2 days
Digitiser cable repair Where touch fails but the screen itself is fine 1 to 2 days
Reseal a lifting screen Old adhesive cleaned off, fresh adhesive fitted and cured Same day
Screen plus swollen battery Battery replaced first, then the screen fitted and sealed 1 to 2 days

Parts and warranty

Twelve month warranty on the screen and the work, and that includes the seal. If the edge starts lifting inside the warranty period, bring it back and we will redo it.

We fit genuine parts. Where a model is old enough that the original is no longer made, we will tell you plainly that the part is a compatible one and what the difference looks like, before you decide.

Why bring your iPad to us

The reseal is the part that decides whether your repair lasts two years or two months. We use fresh adhesive all the way round and give it proper clamping time, which is slower and is the whole point.

Free diagnosis, genuine parts, free collection and delivery anywhere in Bangalore, and a written twelve month warranty. You are welcome to come to the Marathahalli workshop and watch the check.

Questions people ask

Only the glass is cracked and the picture is fine. Do I need the whole screen?

It depends on the model. On several iPads the glass and display are separate layers and the glass alone can be replaced for a good deal less. On the newer ones they are bonded and have to go together. Tell us your model and we will say which.

My screen is lifting at the edges. Is that a screen problem?

If it has lifted evenly all the way round, it is usually a swollen battery pushing from underneath, and that needs dealing with first. If it has lifted at one corner only, it is normally a previous repair that was not sealed properly.

Touch stopped working but the glass looks fine. What is that?

Usually a crack in the touch layer or a damaged digitiser cable, neither of which shows on the outside. It is a common result of a drop that appeared to do no damage.

Will I lose my photos and apps?

No. Screen work does not touch storage at all. We still suggest backing up first as a habit, but nothing on the iPad is affected by this repair.

How long will you keep it?

Most screen replacements are same day or next day. The adhesive needs proper curing time, so we would rather hold it a few extra hours than hand back a screen that lifts later.

Is it worth repairing an older iPad?

Often yes, because an iPad that is only cosmetically broken usually has years of use left. On a very old model with a costly screen we will tell you honestly if the money is better spent elsewhere.
