iPad Battery Replacement
iPad Battery Replacement in Bangalore
iPad batteries last a long time, which is exactly why people are surprised when one fails. Five or six years of daily charging is normal before the capacity drops far enough to notice, so by the time it happens the iPad feels like an old friend rather than a device with a service part in it.
There is one version of this that is not just an inconvenience. A swollen battery pushes the screen out of the frame, and a swollen lithium cell in a sealed aluminium case is worth taking seriously. If your screen has started lifting evenly around the edge, stop charging it and bring it in.

Signs the battery is finished
The first few are normal wear. The last two mean bring it in now rather than next month.
- It lasts two or three hours where it used to last most of a day
- The percentage drops in jumps, say from 40 straight to 15
- It shuts down suddenly while still showing charge left
- It only works while plugged in
- Charging takes far longer than it used to
- It gets noticeably warm doing very little
- The screen has started lifting evenly all the way round
- The back has a visible bulge or the iPad rocks on a flat table
Why iPad batteries wear out
Every lithium battery has a limited number of full charge cycles in it, and after that its capacity falls away. iPads have large batteries and most people charge them less often than a phone, which is why they last years longer before this becomes obvious.
Heat is what accelerates it. An iPad left on a car dashboard, used on charge for hours in a warm room, or kept in direct sun ages its battery considerably faster than one that is not. Bangalore is kinder here than most Indian cities, but it still adds up.
Swelling happens when a cell fails internally and produces gas. It is not common and it is not usually dangerous if handled sensibly, but it will push the screen out and it can crack it. Charging a visibly swollen battery is the one thing you should genuinely avoid.
Cheap chargers contribute too. A charger that does not regulate properly puts the cell under stress every single time you use it, and the damage builds up quietly over a year or two.
What is involved and how long it takes
iPad batteries are held down with strong adhesive strips, so this is more work than a phone battery and worth doing carefully.
- Free battery health check. We read the actual cycle count and capacity rather than guessing from how it feels. Sometimes the battery is fine and the real problem is an app or a setting draining it.
- Screen removal. The display has to come off to reach the battery, so this job includes all the same care and resealing as a screen replacement.
- Careful battery removal. The adhesive under an iPad battery is strong and the cell is thin. This is done slowly and with the right solvent, because a punctured cell is a genuine problem.
- Fit and calibrate. New cell fitted, then charged and discharged fully so the iPad reports the capacity correctly from day one.
- Reseal the screen. Fresh adhesive all the way round with proper curing time, exactly as we would on a screen replacement.
What is involved and how long it takes
The price depends on your model, since battery sizes and difficulty vary a lot between a base iPad, an Air, a Mini and a 12.9 inch Pro. We quote after the free health check.
A swollen battery costs the same to replace as a worn one. It just needs handling more carefully, and occasionally the screen has already been damaged by the swelling, which we will point out before starting.
| Job | What it involves | Time needed |
|---|---|---|
| Battery health check | Cycle count and real capacity read, no parts fitted | Free, about 20 minutes |
| Battery replacement | Screen off, old cell removed, new cell fitted and calibrated | Same day |
| Swollen battery replacement | Same job, handled with extra care, screen checked for damage | 1 day |
| Battery plus screen | Where the swelling has already cracked or lifted the screen | 1 to 2 days |
| Charging port check | Where the fault turns out to be charging rather than the battery | Same day |
Parts and warranty
Twelve month warranty on the battery and the work, and the screen seal is covered too since the display has to come off to fit it.
We use genuine cells. A cheap battery in an iPad is a poor idea for reasons that go beyond how long it lasts, and it is not something we will fit even if asked.
Why bring your iPad to us
We check whether it is actually the battery before selling you one. A worn battery, a failing charging port and a background app draining power all feel identical to the owner, and only one of them needs a new cell.
Free health check, genuine parts, free collection anywhere in Bangalore, proper resealing of the screen and twelve months of written cover.
Questions people ask
My screen is lifting. Is that the battery?
If it has lifted evenly all the way round, almost certainly yes, and it is a swollen cell pushing from underneath. Stop charging it and bring it in. Continuing to charge a swollen battery is the one thing genuinely worth avoiding.
How long should an iPad battery last?
Five or six years of normal use before you notice a real drop. If yours has fallen off badly in two years, something else is going on and the health check will show what.
Can I just replace the battery myself?
We would not recommend it on an iPad. The battery is held down with strong adhesive under a glued screen, and a punctured cell is a real hazard. Phones are one thing, iPads are considerably harder.
Will I lose my data?
No. A battery replacement does not touch storage. Back up anyway out of habit, but nothing on the iPad is at risk from this job.
It only works when plugged in. Battery or port?
Usually the battery, but not always. A failing charging port gives very similar symptoms. The health check settles it in twenty minutes and costs you nothing.
Is it worth it on an old iPad?
Usually yes. An iPad with a fresh battery is good for years more, and it costs a fraction of replacing the device. We will say so if we think otherwise.
