iPad Back Panel Repair
iPad Back Panel Repair in Bangalore
The back of an iPad is a single piece of machined aluminium, and it is also the structural frame that everything else mounts to. That is why a dent in it is more than cosmetic. A bent housing stops the screen sitting flat, and a screen that does not sit flat cracks again far sooner.
This is the repair people most often want quoted over the phone, and it is the one where that is least possible. A shallow dent in the corner and a bend running across the middle are completely different amounts of work, and the only way to tell them apart is to look.
Call +91 98451 28045 for a free check. We collect from anywhere in Bangalore and drop it back, at no extra cost.
What we can help with
Anything from cosmetic marks to a housing that has stopped holding the iPad together.
- A dent in a corner, usually from a drop onto a hard floor
- The iPad rocks when you put it flat on a table
- A visible bend running across the back
- The screen sits proud of the frame on one side
- A crack or split in the aluminium, often near the camera
- The rear plastic window on a cellular model has cracked
- Deep scratches or scuffs you want tidied up
- The back has been pushed out by a swollen battery
What a bent back actually does
Aluminium bends rather than shatters, which is why an iPad can survive a drop that would destroy a glass backed phone. The trade off is that once it has bent, it stays bent, and the frame is no longer square.
A frame that is out of true is the reason a replacement screen keeps failing. The adhesive cannot pull down evenly, the screen sits under constant tension, and it cracks again from a much smaller knock than it should. Anybody fitting a new screen to a bent iPad without saying so is setting you up for a second repair.
A back pushed out from the inside is a different story, and it points at a swollen battery rather than an impact. That needs the battery dealt with first, and the housing assessed afterwards.
On cellular models there is a plastic window let into the aluminium so the antenna can work. If that has cracked, the repair is usually straightforward and much cheaper than a full housing.
What is involved and how long it takes
The assessment matters most here, because straightening and replacing are very different jobs.
- Flatness assessment. We check the housing against a flat reference to see how far out it actually is, rather than judging by eye. That decides everything else.
- Rule out the battery. A back pushed out from inside is a swollen cell, not impact damage. That gets found before any straightening is attempted.
- Straightening where possible. Mild bends and dents can often be worked back with the internals removed. It is slow, careful work and it saves you the cost of a housing.
- Housing replacement where not. Where the aluminium is cracked or bent too far, everything is transferred to a new housing. That is a full strip and rebuild of the iPad.
- Fit check before closing. The screen is offered up and checked for a flat, even fit before it is sealed. If it does not sit right, we go back a step rather than glue it down anyway.
What is involved and how long it takes
This is the repair where a photo helps enormously. Send one over on WhatsApp and we can usually tell you straight away whether it looks like a straighten or a replacement.
We quote after seeing it. Anybody who gives you a firm price for a dented iPad without looking is guessing.
| Job | What it involves | Time needed |
|---|---|---|
| Assessment and flatness check | Housing measured against a flat reference | Free, about 20 minutes |
| Dent and mild bend straightening | Internals removed, aluminium worked back true, rebuilt | 1 to 2 days |
| Rear antenna window repair | Cracked plastic window on cellular models replaced | Same day |
| Full housing replacement | Complete strip, everything moved to a new housing, rebuild | 2 to 4 days |
| Housing plus screen | Where the bend has cracked the screen as well | 2 to 4 days |
Parts and warranty
Twelve month warranty on parts and work. On a straightened housing we warrant the work, though we will always be honest that straightened aluminium is not quite as strong as it was before the drop.
If we think a straighten will not hold, we will tell you before taking the job rather than after it comes back.
Why bring your iPad to us
We will not fit a new screen to a bent iPad and call it done. It is the quickest way to earn a second repair from the same customer, and it is why so many people are on their third screen.
Free assessment, honest advice on whether the repair is worth it against the value of the iPad, free collection across Bangalore and twelve months of cover.
Questions people ask
My iPad is bent but everything still works. Should I bother?
If it is mild and the screen sits flat, you can leave it. If the screen is proud on one side or the iPad rocks on a table, it is worth doing, because that frame will keep breaking screens until it is corrected.
Can a bent iPad be straightened, or does it need a new back?
Mild bends and dents can usually be worked back. Cracked aluminium or a severe bend needs a housing replacement. We check against a flat reference rather than judging by eye, and the check is free.
Why did my new screen crack again so easily?
Very often because it was fitted to a frame that was still out of true. The screen sits under constant tension and a small knock finishes it. Correcting the housing first is what stops that cycle.
The back is bulging outwards. Is that impact damage?
No, that is a swollen battery pushing from inside. Stop charging it and bring it in. The battery is dealt with first and the housing assessed afterwards.
Will the repair be invisible?
On a straighten, usually very close but not always perfect, and we will be honest about that before starting. A housing replacement gives you a back that is genuinely new.
Do I lose my data?
No. This is mechanical work and does not touch storage, even on a full housing replacement where everything is transferred across.
